You’ve seen it — those salty or toxic keyboard warriors — players (or squads) that bring down the enjoyment of the game! In todays day-and-age of MMO games, good sportsmanship has taken a back seat (or shot dead). So what does this mean for you, your squad, the Sniper Arena as a whole? What can you do about it?
THE BLACK MARK
As part of a squad, you are now able to battle in tournaments. Unfortunately, there are a few things that can make it very costly. If a squad registered for a Tournament or Domination, but didn’t show, then they are BLACKMARKED. If a squad fights in either type of battle and fails to defeat a single node, that is considered a missed battle and they receive a Black Mark.
If a squad receives a Black Mark, they are unable to participate in tournaments or domination battles until the end of the season (which is usually a week), at which time the restriction is removed.
Available ONCE PER SEASON, if the squad wants to continue battling then they PAY A FEE. The fees range from 100 diamonds for lower leagues to 1,000 diamonds for Elite leagues. This is a good example of just handing over more money to an already expensive PAY-to-PLAY type of game.
MERCY RULE / FAIR PLAY
When battling in TOURNAMENTS, there are some squads that purposely try to Black Mark their opponent. While strategically it makes sense to eliminate the enemy from the running, it is completely unnecessary since there are no added gains in eliminating all the nodes. Therefore, by most squad standards, its considered extremely poor sportsmanship. To ensure this doesn’t happen most squads will leave one of the opponents nodes open, considering this an act of MERCY.
Squads will sometimes enforce their good sportsmanship by creating a Code-of-Conduct guide. As an example, “If you cause another squad to be Black Marked, you WILL be personally required to apologize to them and send them the gem fee — and/or you will be booted from the squad.”
